Naugatuck-Anna (Wallick) Matcheson, age 98, widow of John Matcheson, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 15, 2015 at Beacon Brook Health Center surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Matcheson was born in Scranton, PA on January 31, 1916, daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Homa) Wallick. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident, and she was a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Waterbury. Anna enjoyed crocheting, baking and bowling.
She is survived by her sons, Jon (Mercedes) Matcheson of Hampton, CT, and Thomas( Marcia) Matcheson of Naugatuck; her five grandchildren, Johnna (Jason) Sauro, Nickolaus (Amanda) Matcheson, Adam (A-Wen) Matcheson, Nathan Matcheson and Laura (Derek) Bostic; four great grandchildren, Alexander, Raven, Ryan and Olivia; her sister Genevieve Tierney of Moscow, PA and several nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her eight brothers and one sister.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Beacon Brook for their attentive and compassionate care given to Anna during her illness.
Her funeral will be held on Monday January 19, 2015 at 11a.m. at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, 3125 North Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Orthodox Cemetery, Stillson Road, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning from 10a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
