Carol A. (Fitzgerald) StachowiakDecember 25, 1936 ~ August 12, 2017 (age 80)
Naugatuck-Carol A. (Fitzgerald) Stachowiak, age 80, widow of Raymond Stachowiak, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit on Saturday August 12, 2017.
She was born in Belvedere, IL on December 25, 1936, daughter of the late Robert and Rita (Donovan) Fitzgerald. She had lived in Oxford and Naugatuck for many years, and retired from River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury after working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 30 years. Carol was a former member of St. Thomas Ladies Guild in Oxford, and a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Beacon Falls. She was a member of the Naugatuck Senior Center and she enjoyed traveling.
Carol is survived by her children, Richard (Joan) Stachowiak of St. Augustine, FL, Cindy (Szilveszter) Jando of Naugatuck, and Linda (TJ) Stachowiak of Beacon Falls; her five grandchildren, Cheyenne Quin, Christina Jando, Raymond Stachowiak, Kaitlin Jando, and Matthew Stachowiak; her brothers, Pat Fitzgerald of Palatine, IL and Ed Fitzgerald of Houston, TX; her sister Janice Fitzgerald of Washington, DC; her sister in law Dorothy Donovan of Reno, NV, and several nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by a sister, Maureen Fitzgerald and a brother in law, James Donovan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 16, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, followed by a service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will be in LaSalle, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
