Beacon Falls- Edward R. Betkoski, age 87, husband of the late Patricia A. (Holloway) Betkoski, passed peacefully on Monday April 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Betkoski was born in West Haven, CT on August 13, 1927, son of the late John W. Betkoski, Sr., and Emma (Pliska) Betkoski. He moved to Beacon Falls when his family purchased Spring Dairy Farm in 1931. He was a lifelong resident of Beacon Falls and he proudly served his country in the United States Marines during World War II. He enjoyed his work as a contractor building many homes in the Valley. He was an active member of the community serving as selectman of Beacon Falls, former chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission and served two terms as former State Representative. Ed loved the Lord and was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan, he enjoyed gardening, sitting outdoors in the sunshine, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Edward is survived by three sons, Steven Betkoski of Beacon Falls, Thomas Betkoski of Naugatuck, and Christopher Betkoski of Bethlehem; his three daughters, Paula Cranford of Monroe, Mary Ann Mays, and Nancy Betkoski, both of Beacon Falls; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, daughter Tara, and siblings Steven, infant brothers Walter and Frank, Jane, Joseph, John Jr., and Charles.
His funeral will be held on Friday May 1, 2015 at 8:45a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/ Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m.. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8p.m..
