Florence M. (Rek) Grzegorczyk

Prospect-Florence M. (Rek) Grzegorczyk, age 88, widow of Joseph Grzegorczyk, passed away on Friday August 21, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit surrounded by her family.

Florence was born in Waterbury, CT on August 2, 1927 daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Bartosiak) Rek.  A longtime resident of Prospect, she retired from both Risdon Manufacturing and the Uniroyal, Inc.  Mrs. Grzegorczyk enjoyed playing scrabble, puzzles, crocheting and watching football.  She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.

She is survived by her sons Joseph Grzegorczyk and Stephen Grzegorczyk; her daughter Mary Baranauskas and her husband David, all of Prospect; her sister Hedwig “Pat” Ploch of Naugatuck; her four grandchildren, David Baranauskas and his fiancé Leah Tarnowicz of Beacon Falls, Marisa Baranauskas and Joseph Grzegorczyk, both of Prospect, and Paul Brewer and his wife Nicole of Naugatuck, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 25, 2015 at 10a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, Prospect.   Those attending are asked to please meet at 9:45a.m. at the church.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.  Calling hours will be held at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, on Monday evening from 5-7p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect, CT 06712, or to St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit, 56 Franklin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
