Naugatuck-Gloria (Ruby) Siwanowicz, age 90, widow of Victor M. Siwanowicz, Jr., passed away peacefully at Glendale Health Center on Wednesday December 7, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Siwanowicz was born in Waterbury, CT on January 30, 1926, daughter of the late Frank Ruby and Michelina Errico. A longtime resident of Naugatuck, she was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church for many years. She loved to sing, cook, and enjoyed many years of polka dancing. Gloria was also an active member of the Kollege Kapers for more than 40 years. She was an outstanding and devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother (nonni) and friend.
Gloria is survived by her brother Frank Ruby; her sister Elia Howard, both of California; her son, Victor Siwanowicz of Seminole, FL; her three daughters, Nancy Mariano and her husband Douglas of Naugatuck, and Karen Mancuso and her husband Michael, Sr., of Seminole, FL and Laurie Nevins and her husband Stephen of Naugatuck; her nine grandchildren, Christopher and Robert Siwanowicz, Eric Mariano and his wife Cathryn, Lisa Mariano and her husband Mike Wilson, Brian Mariano and his wife Ashley, Jaclyn Mancuso, Michael Mancuso, Jr., Courtney Fish and her husband David, and Stephanie Nevins; her ten great grandchildren, Aylsa Sigovitch, Tyler Martin, Brianna Mariano, Megan Sigovitch, Alyssa Braddock, Lexy Carisio, Eliana Mariano, Sophia Carisio, Blake Mariano, and Nolan Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jason Siwanowicz, and her siblings, Giovanni Rubo, Roland Ruby, and Mary (Grace) Ruby.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Glendale Health Center for the kind and compassionate care given to Gloria during her illness.
A Mass of Christian will be held on Saturday December 10, 2016 at 10a.m. at St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill Street, Naugatuck. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
