Oxford-John J. Holloway, age 87, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s

Hospital on Tuesday November 24, 2015.

 

John was born in Waterbury, CT on February 10, 1928, and grew up in Beacon Falls.  He was the son of Leo and Stella (Wasnieski) Holloway of Beacon Falls.  John proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan.

 

He was a volunteer Fireman for the Beacon Hose Company for 26 years and worked for Murtha Enterprises for 48 years.  He had a lifelong passion for photography and loved to share his photos with everyone.  John could fix anything and was very meticulous in making crafts and keeping his yard beautiful.

 

 

John is survived by his longtime companion, Shirley Weymer and children; Lynne Weymer and Bob, Brian and Kelly Weymer and his dog Bentley; his sisters, Barbara Caron and Carol Buehler; his brothers Edward Holloway and Thomas Holloway; and many generations of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Nelson and Patricia Betkoski, and his brother Leo Holloway.

 

His funeral will be held on Saturday November 28, 2015 at 9a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Oxford Ambulance, 484 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT 06478, or Beacon Hose Company #1, 35 North Main Street, Beacon Falls, CT 06403.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
