Manuel J. Furtado

Waterbury-Manuel J. Furtado, age 79, husband of the late Maria Luisa (Figuerido) Furtado, passed away peacefully at the Miller Memorial Home in Meriden on Wednesday February 28, 2018.

Mr. Furtado was born in Ponta Delgado, Azores on March 4, 1938, son of the late Dagoberto and Nazere Furtado.  He retired from Oronoke Condominium Association in Stratford and lived in Naugatuck for many years before moving to Waterbury.  He enjoyed drawing, photography, and soccer.

Manuel is survived by his daughter, Alexandra Douty and her husband Mark of Waterbury; his grandson Zachary Douty; his sister Natalia Dias of Naugatuck; several brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018 9:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Road, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
