Nadia Krawczyk, 94, wife of the late Slawek Krawczyk passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 peacefully at The Cheshire House in Waterbury.

Nadia was born August 23, 1923 in Widbor, Poland (now Belarus) daughter of the late Tatiana and Thomas Matushok. She came to the US from Germany in 1950 after WWII and settled in Waterbury where she and her husband became US citizens. Nadia was retired from Uniroyal and UniSys. She was the matriarch of her family which she loved dearly. Nadia was creative and talented in preparing delicious home made meals, sewing beautiful clothing, crocheting warm afghans and planting colorful flower gardens. Above all she loved her family which she unselfishly cared for.

Nadia was a member of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church (St. Mary’s) where she was a member and past president of St. Olga’s Sisterhood and a member of St Martha’s Altar Guild. She graciously gave her time and talents to the church cooking wonderful ethnic foods and baking breads.

Nadia is survived by her son George of Waterbury, her grandchildren Eric Krawczyk, Eva Kawczynski and her husband Mark of Wallingford, Rachel Golebiewski and her husband Gene of Wallingford, Michael Matzkevich of Nashville, TN, Gregory Matzkevich and his wife Mari of West Hartford and great-grandchildren Ally, Ashton, Gunner and Genna. She also leaves her son-in-law Bob Matzkevich.  Nadia is predeceased by her daughters Mary Krawczyk and Helen Matzkevich.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cheshire House Nursing Home and the staff of Season’s Hospice for their compassionate care.
