Sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Pete. I have many great memories of Peter as a friend, athlete, and all around great guy. I remember Pete and Jackie Franco visiting me at Santa Maria Junior College, CA, when they were at San Jacinto Junior College, CA., cause we New Haven Boys had to stick together. Playing golf with Pete was always enjoyable. My condolences to all of his family. Pete will always be remembered. Dom Ferrara, Tucson, AZ

Growing up with Pete was great. He was a solid inspiration. We didn't interact much but I always saw him as a friend. Condolences to his family from all The Fusco's.

My deepest condolences to the Barbarito family. Coach Bob was an exceptional football coach and an even better person. I had the pleasure of playing for him from 1983-1986 and was part of his State Championship team. Coach Bob was a big part of why I was able to play football in college and I am forever great full to him.

Dear Lynne Jim Eric and family....I was shocked and saddened to learn of Pete's sudden passing....I'm going to miss him terribly...he was a unique individual.... our late friend "The Shark" once said he would grump at the bubbles in ginger ale...not because he was a curmudgeon but because he was "Pete". I reiterate those words of Royce Toni...he was a joy to watch...( from my perspective left guard # 71...usually looking at his backside scurrying up the field from a just completed block position) playing football at ND HS watching him score 99 yds on a simple wedge play and then to score 4 TDS vs Fitch HS.... awarded New Haven Register Player of the week...the rest of his football accomplishments football... watching him finish off a wedge of custard pie in the ND cafeteria in less than 2 bites..He accomplished so much in his life personally and professionally .....Thanks for being my friend Pete ...rest In piece.....Ralph Greco

To the Barbarito Family: Both Bob and I are so sorry for the loss of Peter. I remember Peters family, my Mom Penny Causgrove knew Mark and Bess for years. I remember seeing Peter play football at Notre Dame way back when, and my family and I enjoyed seeing him do a great job. I would also like to extend my condolence to Betsey and her family, Mary and her boys, and Joannie, and her boys. Peter was proud of his boys, and his wife, lovely women. The Barbarito family is a large family, and both Bob and I would also send our prayers to all the grandchildren and Peters inlaws. Wonderful family. Our prayers are with the Barbarito family and Pete, your Mom and Dad will be waiting for you at the pearly gates. Kathleen and Robert Flanagan.

Sorry to hear of the sad news about Peter. The Barbarito and Blum families go back to September, 1930 when our fathers, Mark and Sam, met as freshmen at Providence College and landed up as neighbors on Portsea Street. Along with their wives, they remained friends and brothers their entire lives. I was at Peter’s first game at Yale Bowl playing for UConn when he ran for more yards individually than the entire Yale team.

My love and sympathy to the entire Barbarito family including my favorite baby sitter, Betsy.

Peter was one of the kindest people I ever met. But, he was a tuff one also.
Oct 1956 ... I handed off to him on our own 1-yd line and he went up the middle for a 99-yd TD run ... a state record only he held at the time. We ( NDHS West Haven ) went on to beat Fitch 40 to 0 that Saturday afternoon. Funny, I've known Peter since 3rd grade at Sacred Heart grammar school ... but I keep recalling seeing nothing but him "disappearing" from my view that moment leaving everybody in his jet stream. It's a recollected moment of continuous joy. Thanks buddy !!!
"Fazoo" rest in peace.
