Naugatuck-Ralph W. Muschett, 85, passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2015 in Naugatuck (Beacon Brook Health Center).

 

He was the husband of Veronica H. (Fedorka) Muschett of Naugatuck. Ralph was born on June, 24, 1930 in New York City, the son of Nancy (Bencker) and Ralph Muschett Sr.

 

He spent most of his childhood in Jackson Heights, Queens, attending PS69 and W C Bryant High School. It was there his interest in science and math were nurtured leading him to receiving a B Ch. E (Chemical Engineering) degree from New York University in 1953

.

While attending NYU Ralph was initiated into the Psi Upsilon Fraternity, becoming president of the NYU (Delta) Chapter.  He was active in the fraternity’s alumni groups both local and national governing bodies as an alumni. As a member of the ROTC program at NYU Ralph was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was called to active duty with the Army Corps of Engineers and stationed at Fort Belvoir in VA.

 

Following discharge from active duty he joined Naugatuck Chemical (UniRoyal) as project engineer/manager. While in Naugatuck he met and married his wife. He worked for Crawford & Russell, Ethyl Corp, Parsons Group, Jacobs Engineering, Life Sciences, and Fluor-Daniel. His work took him to Europe for 11 years with his wife and family.

Ralph was an avid bowler, was proficient with tools, maintaining his cars and working on  building projects. Ralph was involved with the AARP Drivers Safety Program, becoming an Instructor and later District Coordinator.

 

In addition to his wife, Ralph leaves his son Bob Muschett and his wife Kristin of Glastonbury, daughters, Trisha Muschett of Washington, Pamela Campbell and her husband, Jason of Newtown, Nicole DiAntonio of Pennsylvania, and six grandchildren, Erica Everett of Idaho and her husband Ryan, Mallory Muschett of Glastonbury, Courtney, Emily, and Ryan Campbell of Newtown.
