Naugatuck-Theodore “Ted” Melyan, age 91, passed away on Sunday February 24, 2019 peacefully at the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Ted was born in Naugatuck, CT on April 13, 1927, son of the late Antonie and Florentina (Smolenska) Melijan. A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, he retired after 45 years from the Chemical Division of Uniroyal. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Seaman First Class on the USS Macon. He was a member of the Polish American Club, VFW Post 1946 and Elks Lodge 967 in Naugatuck. Ted loved to watch the horse races at OTB and played golf in the Wednesday night league at Hop Brook Golf Course.
Ted was predeceased by his brother Edward, his sister Jennie Polonis, and his longtime friend Cassie Tuminski.
