Regina L. (Sokolowski) Mezzo

Naugatuck-Regina L.(Sokolowski) Mezzo, age 88, widow of William S. Mezzo, Sr., passed away at Waterbury Hospital on Saturday October 7, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Mezzo was born in Ansonia, CT on April 23, 1929, daughter of the late Zygmunt and Stefania Sokolowski.  A longtime Naugatuck resident, she retired from Peter Paul Company after several years of service.  She was a faithful parishioner of St. Vincent Ferrer Church, and she loved cooking, gardening, and especially the change of seasons.

Regina is survived by her son, William S. Mezzo, Jr., and his companion Marian DiNicola of Naugatuck; her daughters, Diane Peterson of Punta Gorda, FL, and Beverly Waters of Stratford; her grandson, Jeffrey Willis of Wakefield, RI; her loving great granddaughters, Samantha and Amanda Willis and their mother, Christine Willis; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Michael and Gene Sokolowski, and her sister Estelle (Sokolowski) Kiljanowicz.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday October 12, 2017 at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.  Memorial contributions, in Regina’s memory, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
