Naugatuck-Albino M. Santos, age 79, beloved husband of Gloria (Fernandes) Santos, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday June 24, 2018 after a brief illness.
Mr. Santos was born December 7, 1938 in Sao Laurenco, Chaves, Portugal, son of the late Manuel and Emilia (Mendes) Santos. He immigrated to the United States in 1969 and worked tirelessly in his effort to achieve the American dream. He was an active member of the Waterbury Portuguese Sports Club, where he enjoyed watching soccer and playing cards with his many friends. Albino was also a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was most proud of the accomplishments achieved by his children, which were made possible by his dedication to his family.
He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a gentleman who always put family and friends first.
Besides his wife Gloria, Albino leaves his son, Atty. Carlos Santos and his wife Melissa of Middlebury; his daughter Rosa Ramalhete and her husband Tony of Prospect; his three grandchildren, Sasha Santos, and Jordyn and Xander Ramalhete; his sister, Maria Eugenia of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; his brother Alberto Santos and his wife Natercia of Naugatuck; his sister Maria de Conceicao Soares and her husband Jose; and several nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
His funeral will be held on Thursday June 28, 2018 at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
