Barbara (Potz) Jagello

Naugatuck-Barbara (Potz) Jagello, age 88, widow of Walter A. Jagello, passed away on Thursday June 22, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bristol, CT on November 19, 1928, daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Schwartz) Potz.  A longtime Naugatuck resident, Barbara had worked at Uniroyal, Inc. for several years.  At age 19, she received a trophy and was voted Miss Uniroyal 1947.  She enjoyed spending time and cooking meals for her family and grandchildren, and she was seen often attending their dance recitals and sporting events. She also had a passion for flowers and gardening and maintained a beautiful Japanese garden in her yard. Barbara was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Naugatuck.

She leaves her children, James Jagello, Jon Jagello and his wife Stacy, and Walter Jagello and his wife Amanda, all of Naugatuck; her grandchildren, Derrick, Phoebe, and Emma; her brother, Robert Potz of Southbury; her sisters, Lois Groody of Waterbury and Elaine Chasse of Wolcott; and several nieces and nephews.  Barbara was predeceased by her step mother, Victoria (Conda) Potz.

Her funeral will be held on Monday June 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation Connecticut Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
