Cornelius G. McLaughlin Jr.

Cornelius Garrett McLaughlin, Jr., 71, of Terryville, passed away, April 10, 2015. Born in Cambridge MA, son of the late Thelma (Campbell) and Cornelius G. McLaughlin, Sr.  Neil graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Cambridge MA and with degrees from Northeastern University and Lesley College in Criminal Justice. Neil was a member of the U.S. Air Force for 9 years where he was a member of the SAC Elite Guard and served in Viet Nam. He was married to Betty Jean (BJ) Snow on December 31, 1993 in Tuskegee, AL.

During their 23 year marriage, Neil and BJ enjoyed time with their family, friends, horses, and dogs.  During his career he has served as officer on the Bourne MA PD, and served as Chief at Bristol Community College (MA), Tuskegee University (AL), University of Missouri - Columbia, Trinity College (CT), and Western Connecticut State University where he retired. He also taught criminal justice, and defense and weapons training, as well as, being an active member and president of NECUSA, and CT IACLEA.

He is survived by his wife, BJ, his siblings: Tamra Scott and family, Kurt McLaughlin and family and Lynette De Lucia and family; and children: Todd McLaughlin, Vikki Darisse and husband Ronald, Angela Webb and husband Steven, Kerri McLaughlin, Jaclyn McLaughlin; 3 step children: Kristi Cordeiro and family, Kerri M. Costa and Jillian Hachem and family; grandchildren: Devin McLaughlin, Joshua McLaughlin, Kasey Webb, Amber Webb, Joseph Darisse, Trevor Darisse and Brianna Darisse.

Visiting hours will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 N. Main Street, Naugatuck CT. Burial will be held at 1pm on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne MA.
