Jean A. (Hill) Opuszynski

Beacon Falls-Jean (Hill) Opuszynski, age 86, widow of Walter J. Opuszynski, Sr., passed away peacefully on Sunday April 1, 2018 at the VITAS Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was born In New Haven, CT on February 2, 1932, daughter of the late Edward and Fannie (Czenkus) Hill.  Jean was a longtime resident of Beacon Falls and was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, yardwork, wildlife and caring for the animals.

She is survived by her son, Walter J. Opuszynski, Jr. and his wife Jeri of Beacon Falls; her daughters, Susan Kean and her husband Robert of Beacon Falls, and Sharron Peters and her husband Phil of Oxford; her twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  Jean was predeceased by her daughter Diane Dugan.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit for the kind and compassionate care given to Jean during her illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck.  Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby.  Calling hours will be held at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hose Company #1, 35 North Main Street, Beacon Falls, CT 06403, or the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
