Woodbury-Jean L. (Larson) Vensel, age 87, passed away on Saturday August 10, 2019 at Waterbury Hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of Frank E. Vensel, Sr., who passed away in 2005.
She was born in New Britain, CT on January 1, 1932, daughter of the late Siegfried “Fred” and Gertrude (Anderson) Larson. Jean was a graduate of New Britain High School and attended the University of Connecticut. She was a longtime resident of Spruce Bank Farm in Woodbury where she was an active member of their community. She retired from the Waterbury School System in 1992 after working as a paraprofessional for many years. Jean enjoyed reading, crafts, especially knitting and crocheting, Jeopardy, spending time with family, and being a doting grandmother and great grandmother.
She leaves her children, Catherine Vensel Pettit (James) of Bethlehem, Frank E. Vensel, Jr. (Patti) of Wolcott, Alan C. Vensel (Karen) of Seymour, Frederick W. Vensel (Dallas) of Gold Canyon, AZ, and Susan Vensel Fialko of Naples, FL; her grandchildren, Manuella Vensel, Sandi Fialko Bills (David), Meaghan Fialko Condie (Ryan), Jennifer Pettit Tassi (Pete), Bethany Vensel Bevis (Justin), Katie Vensel Feest (Chris), Jessica Vensel, Ashley Fialko Woods (Daniel), Kara Pettit Maguire (Daniel), Christopher Vensel, Michael Pettit, Tara Vensel Bartlett (James), Samantha Fialko Kling (Kendall) Shawn Vensel, and Kyler Vensel; her great grandchildren, David Anthony, Isabella, and Savannah Bills, Natasha and Ethan Woods, Cade and Bowen Maguire, Briana Tassi, Colin Feest, Jaylen Kling, and Baby Girl Bevis; sisters in law, Gertrude (Trudy) Vensel, and Irene Vensel; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her brothers, C. Alan Larson and Richard Larson, and son in law Tony Fialko.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday August 24, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Meriden Road, Waterbury.
