Marguerite "Marge" Mihailoff Obituary

Waterbury-Marguerite (Marens) Mihailoff, age 103, joined her beloved husband, James, on October 27, 2018.  A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Marge always had a warm smile and a gleam in her blue eyes.

Born on May 4, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY to John J. and Grace ( DelMonte) Marens, she led a full and active life after graduating from Eastern District High School in Brooklyn.  Granny (Auntie Marge) worked for many years as a dietary supervisor at Waterbury Hospital after her two daughters, Marguerite (Peggy) and Nancy, became adults.  Well known for her cooking skills, she was never without some home-baked goods when a visitor dropped by the house.  She and James traveled all over this country, Hawaii and Europe.  She was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah and enjoyed polka and line dancing with James.  She was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Besides her two daughters, Marguerite M. Villa of Carlisle, Massachusetts and Nancy M. Torode of Acton, Massachusetts, she leaves five grandsons; Zachary Aoki of San Antonio, Texas, Scott Aoki of Hong Kong, Joel Aoki of Tampa, Florida, James Villa of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and John Villa of Long Beach, New York; and a granddaughter, Kendra Torode of Massachusetts.  She also leaves seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Friday November 2, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins Street, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Orthodox Cemetery, Stillson Road, Waterbury.  Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
