Naugatuck- Donald V. Lahey, age 77, beloved husband of Barbara (Stryjewski) Lahey, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 28, 2018 at Cheshire House.
Mr. Lahey was born in Waterbury, CT on May 14, 1941, son of the late Timothy Francis and Gertrude (Holian) Lahey. A longtime Naugatuck resident, he retired from ITW Anchor Stampings in Waterbury. After retirement, he was proud to have worked at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home with his extended “funeral home” family. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Marines, and was a member of the Marine Corps. League of Waterbury, the American Legion Post 17 and Catholic War Veterans in Naugatuck. He was an active parishioner of St. Hedwig Church and served as past president of the Holy Name Society, and was presently a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect. In 2003, Don was recipient of the St. Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation.
Besides his wife Barbara of 48 years, he leaves his son Christopher P. Lahey and his wife Sonia of Prospect; his daughter, Karen Radisch and her husband Adam of Cumming, GA; his sister Ann C. Mulhall of Waterbury; his 5 grandchildren, Brandon and Maya Radisch, and Sierra, Lexi, and Jacob Lahey; and several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his sister, Mary Francis Dumschott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill Street, Naugatuck. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Members of the Naugatuck Veteran’s Council will meet at 6 p.m. To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.
