Naugatuck-She always told us that she was sweet 16 and getting sweeter every year. And so, at sweet 16 plus 80 years, Edna (Dubauskas) Rubertas died peacefully at her home on August 3, 2019.
After graduation from high school, Edna was employed as a telephone switchboard operator with SNET, a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital and a Therapeutic Recreation Director at Medicare Pavilion in Waterbury. When she reluctantly retired at age 80, her only regret was that she would miss working with “the little old people.” Besides adding a little spice to the lives of those around her, Edna enjoyed deep sea fishing and traveling to sun-filled resort destinations. She was an avid NASCAR fan, and especially loved Jimmy Johnson.
The youngest daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Dubauskas, Edna is survived by her children; Deborah of Milford, Janice of Orlando, FL, Selinda Butkus of Middlebury, and John of Naugatuck, as well as seven grandchildren; Sarah and her husband J. Bills of Portland, OR, Gregory and his wife Sharla Butkus of Morris, Christopher of Orlando, FL, Tracey Peck of Georgia, Nicholas of New York City, and Jonathan and Benjamin of Spokane, WA, as well as two great grandchildren; Jackson and Samantha Bills of Portland, OR. She was predeceased by her youngest son Edward, and her three older sisters, Alice Kielty, Helen Dubauskas, and Madeline Sabis.
