Southbury-Edwin S. Taranovich, age 81, husband of the late Lorraine “Lorrie” (Marens) Taranovich, passed away Wednesday September 26, 2018 at Riverglen of Southbury.
Ed was born in Waterbury, CT on August 26, 1937, son of the late Stanley and Catherine (Koleski) Taranovich. He proudly grew up in Union City, graduated from Naugatuck High School and attended Southern Connecticut State University. He, along with his wife, owned and operated Ed’s Hardware Store in Naugatuck for 37 years until his retirement. Ed enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, and traveling. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Ed is survived by his five children; Tammie Taranovich and her partner Phyllis Kaplan, Holly Bucciarelli, Tracey and Robert Dillistin, Keri and Jason Rich, and Daniel Taranovich. He also leaves behind his ten grandchildren; his two great grandchildren; his sister Bernice Roditis; and several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by two grandchildren, Cameron Deen Rich and Jordan Ekberg; his brothers Raymond, Richard and his sister Frances.
His funeral will be held on Monday October 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Platt Road, Watertown. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at the funeral home on Monday at 10: 30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
