Helen M. (Marczewski) Csengo

Naugatuck-Helen M. (Marczewski) Csengo, age 100. beloved wife of the late Steven Csengo, passed away peacefully on Monday January14, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Innovative Care Unit.

Mrs. Csengo was born in Seymour, CT on June 25, 1918, daughter of the late Stephen and Caroline (Salaga)  Marczewski.  A longtime resident of Naugatuck, she retired from Peter Paul Company after many years of service.  Helen was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church, enjoyed reading and playing bingo, and was an avid Yankee fan.  Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her children, Stephen Csengo and his wife Kathleen of Naugatuck, and Carolyn Tucker of Waterbury; her four grandchildren; Michael Tucker and his wife Denise, Melissa Wig and her husband Andy, Deborah DeGennaro and her husband Jake, and Stephen Csengo; her eight great grandchildren who she adored, Lindsay, Courtney, Ryan, Casey, Connor, Teddy, Eli, and Josie; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.  She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS unit for the compassionate care given to Helen during her final days.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday January 17, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.  from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Vincent Ferrer Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
