Waterbury-Helen A. (Maclina) Novocinski, age 93, widow of Jacob Cherepinsky and Henry A. Novocinski, passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at Autumn Lake Health Center.
She was born in Waterbury, CT on October 14, 1924, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Maclina. A lifelong resident of Waterbury, Helen was a graduate of Bucks Hill School and Wilby High School. She worked as a machine operator and did defense work for the United States Navy at Waterbury Tool Company, and had also worked for Timex. She was a member of the AARP since 1980, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating with her family.
Mrs. Novocinski is survived by her two sons, Robert Cherepinsky and his wife Marcia of Ladson, SC, and Henry Novocinski, Jr of Waterbury; a daughter Linda H. Novocinski of Waterbury; a sister Isabella Vitkauskas of New Smyrna Beach, FL; a brother Francis Maclina of Waterbury; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Maclina; her sister in law Yvette Maclina, and longtime companion Vincent Budris.
Her funeral will be held on Friday August 10, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
