Raymond Karaban Obituary

Naugatuck-Raymond B. Karaban, age 78, beloved husband of Lorraine (Belletti) Karaban, passed away on Saturday at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Waterbury, CT on November 8, 1940, son of the late Bronislaw and Frances (Plodzien) Karaban.  Ray was a longtime Naugatuck resident, and was owner of Beacon Falls Distributing and Mid Valley Sales in Seymour for many years.  He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, traveling to Jamaica and Atlantic City, and was an avid sports fan.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife Lorraine of 56 years, Ray leaves his children, Raymond M. Karaban of Naugatuck, Christopher J. Karaban and his wife Tracey of Stratford, and Debra Karaban of Naugatuck; his brother Kenneth Karaban of Beacon Falls; and his five grandchildren, Justin, Nicole, Joshua, Leah and Kylie.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital (CCU and O’Brien 4) for the kind and compassionate care shown to Ray and the family during his stay.
