Eleanor A. Magas Obituary

 

Naugatuck-Eleanor H. (Moore) Magas, age 88, widow of Michael J. Magas, Jr., passed away peacefully on Monday august 21, 2023 at the Village at East Farms, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Born in Waterbury, CT on April 7, 1935, she was the daughter of Raymond and Eva (Macelis) Moore.  She was a longtime resident of Naugatuck, a 1953 graduate of Crosby High School and Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing.  Eleanor raised her family and spent her career as a devoted nurse.  She was of communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the Catholic Council of Women.  She was an avid golfer and was a member of Hop Brook Golf Course, where she played in the Tuesday night mixed league with her husband Mike.  She enjoyed watching and participating in all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

 

Eleanor leaves her loving family, Terry Magas of Waterbury, Tammy Maher and her husband  Chuck of Cheshire, Michael Magas and his wife Diane of Middlebury, and Mark Magas of Naugatuck; her four loving grandchildren, Timothy Maher (Michelle), Casey Morton (Michael), Michael Magas (Amy), and Jamey Magas; her five great grandchildren; her sisters, Elizabeth Menish and Eileen Rogers (Alan); her brothers James (Patty) and Gary (Linda); and several nieces and nephews.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 10:45 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.  Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 pm. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com

 

It is hard to put into words the appreciation and gratitude our family has for her longtime friend and physician Dr. Edmund Quinn, and a special heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of the Village at East Farms for the years of compassion, love and care.  They were our extended family and bless you for all the love that you shared with our dear mother.
