John R. DeMello

Beacon Falls, CT -John R. DeMello, age 86, beloved husband of Barbara (Long) DeMello, passed away on Monday May 9, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT.

Born in Fall River, MA on March 14, 1936, he was son of the late Mary Souza.  He was a longtime resident of Portsmouth, RI before moving to Beacon Falls, CT one year ago.  John retired from JAM Construction in Newport after working there 25 years.  He most recently retired from SVF Foundation after 15 years of service.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War.  John was a master gardener and he received a certificate from the University of Rhode Island.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially his passion, gardening.

Besides his wife Barbara, he leaves a brother Richard DeMello; sister Delores Chagnon and niece Laurie Haywood; he also leaves his step-children, Kris Stella (Scott) Kurt Stenmark, Keith Stenmark (Kelly) along with seven step-grandchildren and one step-great granddaughter.
