Joseph Adamaitis Obituary

NAUGATUCK- Joseph M.Adamaitis, 98, of Naugatuck, died peacefully Thursday, November 24th, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Terry (Pompi) Adamaitis.

Joseph was born in Waterbury, Ct. October 11th, 1924, son of the late Frank and Anna Adamaitis. He served in the United States Army during World War II, participating in the European Theatre, the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He retired as a pipefitter from Uniroyal Synthetic after 33 years of service. He also worked at Western Hills Golf Course in Waterbury.

Joseph was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck . He loved his family above all else. He was an avid golfer . He was a member of the Wednesday Night League and the Jesse Camille's League at his beloved home course Hop Brook of Naugatuck.

Joseph leaves his sons and daughters in law Joseph “Bobby Joe”  and Lisa Adamaitis of Sarasota, Florida, Raymond and Gail Adamaitis of Naugatuck, and Richard and Joy Adamaitis of Beacon Falls;  grandchildren Lorianne Nixon and her husband Jeremy of Naugatuck, Christopher Adamaitis of Portsmouth N.H., Joey Adamaitis of Beacon Falls, Daniel Carollo and his wife Vanessa of Warren, N.J. and Jay Nelson of Naugatuck; great-grandchildren Alexis Siggars, Riley Adamaitis,  Stella,  Luna and Aurora Carollo , Jason “J.R.” Nelson and Lucas and Declan Nixon; sister in law Sylvia Spiering; three very special nieces Helen Nicolo, Patty Kelley and her husband John, and Elaine Carey and her husband Tom; his best friend , “4th Son” and golf partner Billy Burns and his wife Beth; and his many special friends who are too numerous to mention.

In addition to his wife Joseph was predeceased by his brothers John and Frank Adamaitis.

Joseph's family would like to thank Paula Carrelo, Donna Grillo,   Christiana Paniagua and Hector, as well as Accentcare Hospice for the compassion and exceptional  care  he received in his final days.

ARRANGEMENTS -Funeral Services will be held Wednesday November 30th, 2022 at 11:00 A.M at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/ Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home 240 North Main Street in Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday November 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Wednesday from10:00 A.M. until start of services.
