Joseph Mis Obituary

Beacon Falls-Joseph Mis, a retired toolmaker and lifelong resident of Beacon Falls, passed away peacefully in his home on October 2, 2021 at the age of 81.

Joe is survived by his wife, Louise Mis; his daughters; Stacey M. Mis-Posick and Jennifer E. Shinagel; one granddaughter, Audra J. Posick; his step-son, Dennis G. Zonas along with partner Laurette Petty, and their son Elijah Wilkins; his son-in-law, Robert J. Posick; his brother, Michael Mis of Cape Coral, Florida; his twin-brother, Jonathan Mis of Beacon Falls, Connecticut; his sister, Judith Carlson of Beacon Falls, CT; his many nieces and nephews; and his dear pet Timber.

Joe was born on May 25th, 1940, to the late Michael Mis and Julia Potosky Mis. He predominantly worked as a toolmaker at Risdon Manufacturing, where he retired after 20+ years. He married his dear wife, Louise Mis, on January 23, 1988. Joe was a family-man and cherished his two daughters, as well as his beloved granddaughter.

Joe was known as a quiet man, sometimes a man of few words. He was a devoted father, creative craftsman, and an avid outdoorsman. He spent his free-time alongside his cherished friends, deer hunting in Maine; as well as participating in Revolutionary War reenactments with his wife. He had a variety of hobbies including fishing, gardening, amateur radio, and muzzle-loading. He had an affinity for antique tractors, and spent many of his retirement days attending fairs and watching tractor pulls. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Services will be held at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/ Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street in Naugatuck, on Thursday October 7, 2021.
