Waterbury – Lorraine M. “Lo” Lubak passed away peacefully, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, at Beacon Brook Health Center on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Born in Waterbury, CT on August 13, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Julie (Lukeski) Lubak. Lorraine was a lifelong Waterbury resident and was a respiratory therapist at Waterbury Hospital and other locations until her retirement.
Lo had a profound love of animals, and had a series of beautiful Siamese cats. She was happiest out in nature, feeding the birds and squirrels, and walking and bicycling. She loved the beach.
An avid music lover, she particularly liked rock and the blues. Favorite artists included the Rolling Stones, Joan Jett, Marshall Tucker, B.B. King, Bruce Springsteen, Harry Connick Jr., Joni Mitchell, Elvis and – in her later years, Keith Urban.
She was also a devoted aunt to her late niece, Michelle DiVicino. She ensured that every summer, there was a beach vacation – to Clinton or Westbrook CT, Watch Hill or Misquamicut, RI, or Cape Cod. Many wonderful memories were made during those trips.
Lorraine leaves her beloved sister Carol Lubak of Waterbury, Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Tony Longo of Waterbury, Aunt Betty and Uncle Jim Lukeski of Prospect, in addition to many cousins, relatives, friends, and neighbors. She was predeceased by her brother Edward R. Lubak, Jr.
The family extends their extreme gratitude and love to her long-time care-giver, Gladys Gasa, who worked tirelessly with Lorraine to ensure her safety and comfort.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 62 St. Michael’s Drive, Waterbury. To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
