Millie Fonseca Obituary

NAUGATUCK - Millie Denise (Chicoine) Fonseca, 68, wife of Antonio Fonseca, joined her Heavenly Father, April 4, 2021.  To all who knew her, it seems like fate that she embarked on her spiritual journey on the very day we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, because, above all, she was and will always remain a lover and follower of the Lord.
Millie was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on August 28, 1952, to the late Raymond A. and Betty Jean (Brown) Chicoine.  She was a graduate of Woodsville High School and because of her ever-compassionate, sweet, and nurturing soul, went on to nursing school.
Millie met her loving husband, Antonio Fonseca, in Woodsville, New Hampshire.  Together they shared 29 years of marriage and she took so much joy in helping to raise three incredible stepchildren, Gina-Marie Fonseca, Anthony Fonseca, and Jennifer Fonseca.  She also experienced immense joy as grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren, Holden Fonseca-Eye, Noelle Fonseca, and Brendan Fonseca-Eye.
Millie loved and, in turn, was genuinely adored by so many.  She was an active member of her congregation at Bethel Baptist Church.  She loved nothing more than being with her family, enjoying their famous "theme parties".
In addition to her husband, Antonio, stepchildren, and grandchildren, she is survived by several siblings who will miss her dearly:  Duane Gray (Larry, Jr.), Philip Chicoine (Penny, Gary Chicoine (Gretchen, David Chicoine (Cari), Marcel Jacques (Carla, and Cindy Winningham (Barry); and many nieces and nephews, whom she adored.  All take comfort in their faith and knowing that Millie is where she wants to be, with her Lord, and reunited with her best friend and recently, dearly departed mother, "Grammie" Betty.
Wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, caregiver, friend, and devout lover of Christ, these are just a few of so many ways to describe Millie.  She loved fiercely and always remained a calming, loving, sweet, and funny presence.  On this earth, those who love her and knew her are left to miss and mourn her, however, there is comfort in knowing she is resting and at peace.
A walk-through visitation will be held Monday 11 a.m. - 12 Noon, at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 N. Main St., Naugatuck.  Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m., in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.  COVID guidelines will be followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 150 Union City Road, Prospect, CT 06712.  To send an online condolence, please visit naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.
