NAUGATUCK- Abilio Dos Santos Simoes, 79, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria Fernanda (Antunes) Simoes. 

Abilio was born in Freixianda, Portugal April 30th, 1943, son of the late Felizardo and Maria (Simoes) Simoes. 

Abilio worked as welder at Ansonia Copper and Brass until his retirement. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He was a member of the Waterbury Portuguese Sport Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family . He especially loved attending his grandsons ball games and taking them fishing.

In addition to his wife, Abilio is survived by his son and daughter in law Daniel and Ann Simoes of Naugatuck; daughter and son in law  Sylvie Simoes and Carlos Sousa of Milford; grandsons Mitchell Sousa, Gabriel Sousa and Eli Simoes; brother and sister in law Fernando and Jacinta Simoes of Prospect; and sister Alice Antunes and  sister in law Gracinda Simoes, both of Portugal; he was predeceased by his brother and sister in law Jose and Rosa Simoes, his brother Vitalino Simoes and his brother in law Diamantino Antunes. 

ARRANGEMENTS- Funeral will leave Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street Naugatuck Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. for Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury for Mass at 11:00.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.
