Andrew Guisto Obituary

Andrew Louis Guisto, 86, of Waterbury, passed away at Saint Mary’s Hospital on July 24, 2022.  

He was born on September 23, 1935, in Waterbury, the son of Raphael A. and Maria A. (Serino) Guisto, both of Italy.

He is survived by his two daughters, Andrea (John) Bochicchio of Litchfield and Lauren (Dr. Brett) Clark of Colchester, and their mother Carol (Vensel) Guisto of Waterbury.

He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Joey (Amanda) Bochicchio of Simsbury,  Andrew Bochicchio of Litchfield, Johnny Bochicchio of Torrington, and Aaron and Evan Clark of Colchester.  Also two great grandchildren, Natalee and Benjamin Bochicchio.

Andrew was the youngest and last surviving of fifteen children from one of Waterbury’s long established Italian Families. Predeceased siblings were Albert Guisto, Charles Guisto, William Guisto, Anthony Guisto, Frank Guisto, Joseph Guisto, Ralph Guisto Jr., Ida Dora (Guisto) Lawlor, Rose (Guisto) Ferruci, Lucille (Guisto) Bingham Rosado, Viola (Guisto) Peterson, Genieve (Guisto) DeSando, Mary (Guisto) Donahue, and Carmella (Guisto) Santovassi.  Heleaves behind Maria Guisto, Alexa and Liana Morel, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, and Especially his best friend Frenchie.

He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1952.  He was employed for over 40 years by Boise Cascade whichlater became Stone Industries.   

Andrew, affectionately known as Gus and grampy, loved his family, traveling, boating,

socializing, and cooking.  He thought hot peppers made absolutely everything better!  He was a coin collector and very artistically creative.  As a young boy he was a great athlete who loved baseball and later became an avid fan of the UConn Women’s basketball team.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 30, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the

Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street, Waterbury.  Those attending are asked to please meet at the church at 9:45 a.m.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.  Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Naugatuck ValleyMemorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St, Naugatuck.  To send an online condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.
