Naugatuck-Anna B. Yvasauskas, age 105, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 21, 2020 at the Mary Wade Home in New Haven.
Born in Beacon Falls, CT on March 23, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Wailonis) Yvasauskas. Anna was a longtime resident of Naugatuck, and she retired from the footwear division of Uniroyal after 39 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Anna, Annie, Auntie Ann or Smiley was loved by so many and devoted her life to her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her niece and nephews, Judith (Andrew) D’Amato of Virginia, Jack (Brenda) Davidson of Colorado and Ernie (Beverly) Grohs of Maine; seven great nieces and nephews and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her friends and staff at the Mary Wade Home.
Anna was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Mary; three sisters, Helen (Ernie) Grohs, Josephine (James) Coffey and Stella (Jack) Davidson; and niece, Ellen Grohs.
Anna was active most of her life and was an excellent athlete. In her early years she loved to play basketball and was a champion ten-pin bowler. She enjoyed travelling, visiting faraway places in the U.S. but would never fly on a plane. Anna loved to read, play cards and bake; she was known for her delicious pies, cookies, jellies and jams. But most of all, she was happiest spending time with her family, who she loved and cared for dearly.
The family would like to thank all the staff, especially Joy and Maria, at the Mary Wade Home for the compassion they showed in caring for Anna.
