Anthony Dos Santos
WATERBURY- Anthony “Tony” Dos Santos passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022 in the comfort of his home. He was the husband of the late Arminda Dos Santos, his wife of 74 years.
Anthony was born on March 30, 1918 in New Haven and lived his life in Waterbury. He was the son of Jose and Emilia (De Jesus) Dos Santos. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Candido (Ken) Dos Santos and sister Olympia Guimaraes.
Tony and his brother in law Sam Branco owned and operated the Luso-American Market on Mill Street in Waterbury until it closed in 1968. He later retired from the New England Cookie Company, also in Waterbury.
Tony loved spending time with his family and friends. He was especially fond of his “Mall Walking Buddies”. He was an avid Yankees and UCONN Women's basketball fan.
He along with his late wife were among the founders of Our Lady of Fatima Church. They worked tirelessly in fundraising to build the church and with the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.
Tony had a great sense of humor, often pranking friends and family. He found joy in life.
Tony is survived by his children Anthony (Patricia) Dos Santos Jr., Kenneth (Alice) Dos Santos and Judith Dos Santos, 15 grandchildren, 21 great -grandchildren and his beloved grand-dog Bailey. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews grand- nieces grand- nephews and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS- Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 18th, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Fatima Church , 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at church. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105 or to the charity of one’s choice.
