Waterbury-Antonia (Rocha) Barbosa, age 90, widow of Manuel Barbosa, passed away peacefully at Complete Care at Glendale Health Center on October 4th, 2023.
Born in Portugal on January 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Silva) Rocha. Antonia moved from Portugal to the United States in 1969 with her family and eventually settled in Waterbury. She worked for Royal Screw Machine for many years until her retirement. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Antonia is survived by her two daughters, Cecilia Fernandes and her husband Richard and Estela Surreira and her husband Joao, all of Waterbury; three sons, Manuel “Joe” Barbosa of Waterbury, Armando Barbosa and his wife Diane of Thomaston, and Frank Barbosa and his wife Shawnda of Torrington; her brother Adao Rocha of Waterbury; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Antonia was predeceased by six brothers and one sister, as well as her daughter in law Heather Barbosa.
Mrs. Barbosa’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff, especially Maria Tavares, for the exceptional care she received during her stay at Complete Care at Glendale Health Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday October 9th at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury.
