Arthur E. Norton, Sr.

Beacon Falls- Arthur E. Norton Sr., age 86, husband of Janet (Gillingham) Norton, passed away on Wednesday June 29, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Beacon Falls on September 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Arthur J. Norton and Edith (Howard) Norton. Arthur lived most of his life in Beacon Falls. Arthur worked at V & H trucking Co. in Seymour before he went to work at Mesa Construction in Bethany for 45 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He retired from Mesa and went to work for Swan Excavation for 6 years. Arthur loved welding and had his own part time business. He had a heart of gold and when someone needed something done, he was there for them any time of the day or night. He was a proud member of Beacon Hose Company #1 for 48 years and served as Engineer for 9 years and Fire Police Lieutenant for 12 years.

 Artie was a hard worker but always enjoyed blue fishing with his sons, bowling on a league with his Firehouse buddies, camping, gardening, dancing, playing his guitar and singing and most of all going to the casino. He always had a big smile on his face and enjoyed a good laugh which will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

 Besides his loving wife Janet of 69 years, Arthur leaves his children, Arthur Norton Jr and his wife Robin of Bethany, Bonnie Maciejko and her husband Robert of Oxford and James Norton and his companion Jackie of Naugatuck; his seven grandchildren; his eleven great grandchildren; and his great great grandson; his brother William Norton of Naugatuck: his sister Elizabeth Dickson of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael J. Norton, and brothers Fred and Raymond Norton.

His funeral will be held on Friday July 8, 2022, with full Beacon Falls Fire Department honors at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Pinesbridge Cemetery in Beacon Falls. Family and friends may call on Thursday July 7, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
