New Haven-Arthur Gordon Batiste passed away on Thursday May 12, 2022.
He was born to parents Arthur R. Batiste (step-mom Janine) and Catherine Fairchilds on June 8, 1959 in Delhi, New York.
To know Gordon “Gordy” you knew he loved to cook just like his grandfather, his father and siblings. As a young boy, he was an Altar Boy at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Delhi, New York. Later in life, he was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Stamford, CT where he volunteered his time in many holiday events and performances. He also gave much of himself to many of his friends and family whether it was a backyard barbeque, or holiday dinners. He also gave himself to many friends who had nowhere to go for meals, especially during the holidays.
He leaves behind his brothers, William Batiste (Rosemary), Eugene Batiste, Anthony Batiste, Glenn Goodwin, Francis Batiste, and William Sanford, Jr.; his sisters Cheri Ann Meyers, Jacquelyn Chariott (Mike), Tamara Clitso and Serene Indergaard; his lifelong friend, Debbie Drescher, and many other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2022 at 5 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. After the service, all family and friends are invited to the home of Douglas and Bridie McCaughey, 696 High Street, Naugatuck, for a family dinner.
