Bronislawa "Nina" (Szkopinska) Wilner Obituary
Bronislawa “Nina” (Skopinska) Wilner, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by love, with her daughter Maria Wilner and son Paul Wilner by her side.
Born on February 8, 1931, in Kalisz, Poland, Nina endured and overcame the hardships of World War II and life under communist rule. With strength, resilience, and hope for a better future, she immigrated to the United States with her husband, Henry Wilner, eventually becoming a proud U.S. citizen in the 1960s.
Nina pursued higher education and found a meaningful career as a medical records clerk at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. A devout Catholic, she lived her life guided by faith, honoring traditions, and cherishing family and friendships.
She is survived by her son Paul Wilner and his wife Kym, and their children: Michael and his wife Norah, along with their daughters Charlotte and Billie; Christopher and his fiancée Becky, and their son Liam; and Amanda. She is also survived by her daughter Maria Wilner and her son John. Maria was her mother’s primary and loving caregiver for the past ten years, providing constant support and companionship. Nina leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness.
Nina loved to travel and always found joy by the sea. Her warmth, humor, wisdom, and deep devotion to those she loved will be missed beyond measure and remembered always. She had a sharp mind and a deep love for learning, especially in history and geography. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, often finding joy in the simplest moments. Nina saw wonder in the world around her and delighted in watching birds and squirrels, embracing nature with the same affection she gave to family and friends.
A private service will be held in her honor. To send an on-line condolence or share a memory, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you celebrate Nina’s life by embracing the values she lived by—faith, family, and love.
May she rest in peace.
