Naugatuck-Claire M. (Marrone) Fitzgerald, age 85, loving wife of William E. Fitzgerald, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Saturday January 24, 2026.

She was born in Waterbury, CT on September 30, 1940, the daughter of the late John D. and Anna (Mercuri) Marrone.  She was a longtime Naugatuck resident and had worked at Durham Manufaturing, CF Consumer Products, Waterbury Tile and Marble, and the United States Postal Service in Waterbury.  Claire was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a devout Christian.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, painting, woodworking and was a talented artist.

 In addition to her husband Bill of 28 years, she leaves her family to honor her memory, sons John, William, and Michael Keeley; her brothers Louis and Joseph Marrone; her sister Judy Townsend; her four grandchildren; her four great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her step daughter and  sons,  Jeanne M. Fitzgerald Sanda, William E. Fitzgerald Jr., and Jake Voisine. Claire was predeceased by her daughter Andrea Keeley and her first husband John J. Keeley, IV.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.  To send an on line condolence or share a memory, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.
