Clarence Howell Obituary

 

Waterbury – Clarence Howell, husband of the late Eileen M. (Fitzgerald) Howell, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Masonic Care of Wallingford. He was 93 years old.

 

Born on March 21, 1932, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, Clarence was the son of the late Albert and Sylvia (Mercer) Howell. A longtime resident of Waterbury, he was employed by Consolidated Industries in Cheshire for many years. Clarence enjoyed fishing, playing his accordion, and especially adored his German Shepherds.

 

He leaves his family to honor his legacy: his children, David Howell and his wife Barbara of Waterbury; Beverly Van Wagner of Litchfield; and Daphne Thompson and her husband Donald of Maine. He is also survived by his brother, James Howell of Ohio; his sister-in-law, Joan Fitzgerald of Plantsville; his ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, Clarence was predeceased by his daughters, Deborah and Marlene, as well as his five brothers and three sisters.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
