Cora Lee Brody Obituary

Cora Lee Winsor Brody (89), A Devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

On Monday, December 26, 2022, Cora Lee Winsor Brody, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to be with the Lord. She passed peacefully at Middlebury Convalescent Home in Middlebury, Connecticut, after a long illness.

Lee is predeceased by the love of her life, Joseph Eugene Brody. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on this earth and now will enjoy each other for eternity with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joe and Lee cherished their daughters and devoted sons-in-law: Karen and Paul Yuschak of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Debra McLaughlin of Southbury, Connecticut, Sean McLaughlin of Boston, Massachusetts, and Joan and David Bussiere of Middlebury, Connecticut.

They have eight grandchildren: Kate (Yuschak) Garcia and her husband, Pedro; Kyle McLaughlin and his wife, Hannah; Kevin McLaughlin; Rebecca Yuschak; Christopher Bussiere and his wife, Francesca; Colleen McLaughlin and her fiancée, Alex Syiek; Naisha Yuschak; and Lenzay Yuschak. Their legacy continues in their seven precious great-grandchildren: Kayleana and Adalae Garcia; Owen, Iris, and Rory Bussiere; and Joseph and Grace McLaughlin.

Born on the 4th of July, 1933, in Mission Creek, Kansas, Cora Lee Winsor Brody was the youngest daughter of the late James R. and Cora Britton Winsor. After her mom’s passing, Lee and two siblings came to live with her older sister and brother-in-law, LaMoyne and Bill Sullivan, in St. Mary’s, Kansas. Lee met Joe while working as a civilian at the Forbes Air Force Base in Kansas. They were married at St. Francis Church in Naugatuck, Connecticut, on April 11th, 1955.

Joe and Lee raised their family in Naugatuck, CT. Lee volunteered with Girl Scouts and St. Francis School and Church. For more than 30 years, she relished working with her devoted husband, buying and selling antiques, where they enjoyed many dear friendships. Most recently, Lee enjoyed her friends at The Village at East Farms and Middlebury Convalescent Home.

Lee devoted herself to caring for her children and grandchildren. Her smile, generous spirit, and wit was cherished. She will be greatly missed by all.
