Dean R. LaQuay Obituary

 

Beacon Falls-Dean R. LaQuay, age 83, beloved husband of Lydia (Morello) LaQuay, passed away Wednesday November 6, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital.

 

He was born in Johnstown, NY on November 12, 1940, son of the late Herman and Marguerite (Austin) LaQuay. He was a resident of Beacon Falls for 56 years, and retired from Stop & Shop after 29 years of service.  Dean was an active and devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church in Prospect where he served as Trustee as well as many other capacities.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing and spending time with his family.  He will be remembered as a gracious, kind and hardworking man.

 

In addition to his wife Lydia of 21 years, he leaves his family to honor his memory, daughter Deana Doak and her husband Thomas of Syracuse, NY; his grandchildren George Lyon, Stephen Lyon and his wife Lisa, and Pamela Lyon; his sister Charlotte Meszler and her husband Raymond of Spencerport, NY; his step son John Pohorence and his wife Bonnie of Maine; his step daughter Renee Walker and her husband Greg of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Dean was predeceased by his siblings Leon, Harriet, and Mary.

 

 

Visitation will be held on Friday November 15, 2024 from 11 a.m. to noon at Bethel Baptist Church, 150 Union City Road, Prospect.  A service will begin at noon.  Burial with military honors will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck.  To send an on-line condolence or share a memory, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com
