Donald A. Stabile Obituary

Naugatuck-Donald A. Stabile, age 87, husband of the late Lorraine (Dunn) Stabile, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 4, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Innovative Care Unit  surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Waterbury, CT on February 18, 1932, he was the  son of the late Michael and Angeline (Triano) Stabile.  He resided in Naugatuck since 1970 and was assistant Corporate Secretary and Vice President of Administration at Hubbard-Hall, Inc. in Waterbury, retiring in 1997 after 30 years of service.

Donald was a charter member of Alpha Beta Gamma Business Society at Naugatuck Valley Community College.  He conducted a Naugatuck March of Dimes campaign and was a former member of Bank of Boston Advisory Board.  He served on the board of Smaller Manufacturer’s  Association of Greater Waterbury, Inc., and was Naugatuck Chairperson of “A Connecticut Party.”  He was former coach of CYO Baseball in Waterbury and little league farm teams in Naugatuck. Don volunteered at both St. Mary’s and Waterbury Hospitals as a patient representative.  He was an avid fan of New York Yankee baseball and UCONN basketball. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his extensive family and continuing the 35 year tradition of Monday night dinner (MND).

He proudly served his country in the United States Airforce and was discharged in 1956.  He played for Air Force softball and hardball teams during his 4-year tenure.  Don was honored by Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan in September of 2014.  He was one of five veterans who were selected randomly from nearly 400 nominations received from the community.

Donald is survived by his three sons, Kenneth J. Stabile and his wife Kathy of Thomaston, Gary J. Stabile of Naugatuck, and Robert J. Stabile of Naugatuck; his three daughters, Lisa M. Krusko and her husband Jeffrey of Naugatuck, Michele S. McCarthy and her husband Raymond of Pepperell, MA, and Christine M. Stabile of Naugatuck; his nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his great granddaughter, Paige J. Batten.
