Preston-Watertown, CT- Donald K. Barker, age 90, passed away on Tuesday January 27, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS unit.

Born in Terryville, CT on April 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Lucy (Burger) Barker. Donald was a longtime resident of Terryville, CT, Wolcott, CT, Misquamicut, RI and Preston, CT. He worked at Vick’s Oil and Heating Company in Terryville for many years. He was also a talented jack of all trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and heating. He took great care and pride in building and remodeling his houses and cottages throughout the area. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Donald leaves his family to honor his memory, his children Patrick Barker of Old Forge, NY and Dawn Oliveira of Newington; and his grandson Joseph Oliveira.

The Barker family would like to thank the staff at Old Glory Days in Watertown, CT for the care and compassion given to Donald during the final years of his life.

All services will be private and burial will be in State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at a later date.
