Obituary
Naugatuck-Evelyn J. Modzelewski, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 7, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital.
Born in Naugatuck, CT on July 30, 1944, she was the daughter of Jacob and Josephine (Piurkowski) Modzelewski. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck, and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and Post College. Evelyn devoted her career to the automotive industry, serving as the esteemed office manager at Ranger Chevrolet, Henrick Chevrolet and Frank Buick. Alongside her professional pursuits, she possessed a deep appreciation for art, reading, cultivated beautiful gardens, and compassionately rescued feral cats. She was a member of the Garden Club, Naugatuck Emblem Club, Naugatuck Historical Society, and she supported numerous animal rescue causes that held a special place in her heart.
Evelyn leaves her loving son Mark Modzelewski of Boston; her sister Mary Jane Lynch and her husband John of Kensington. Additionally, she leaves behind her cherished cousins Eugene Piurkowski and his wife Diane, Susan LaPierrier and her husband Dennis, Celia Lofton and the Piurkowski family, and many other relatives, dear friends, and her beloved cats.
