Evelyn Walsh Brown Obituary

NAUGATUCK- Evelyn  Walsh - Brown, 96, of Naugatuck, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 at Complete Care at Glendale surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of William J. Walsh Sr. and Lawrence Brown.


Evelyn  was born August 24th, 1929 in Manhattan , New York, daughter of the late Peter Bongiano and Margaret Schwenterly.  She served as the Wolcott Assistant Town Treasurer during the 1970s and also worked as a bookkeeper for Industrial Riggers and Romatic Manufacturing before her retirement. She was also known as “the hostess with the mostest” on the tour bus line America on the Go in Florida.


Evelyn was active in St Pius X Church in Wolcott and served as a member and past President of the Ladies Guild. She was a past President and member of the Wolcott Women's Club, and a member of Naugatuck Emblem Club and the Naugatuck Women's Club. She enjoyed performing in productions at Stage West Community Playhouse in Florida and the Clockwork Repertory  Theatre in Oakville.


Evelyn is survived by her daughter Margaret Walsh and her wife Nancy Traver of Watertown; daughter Wendy Meagher and her husband Bill of Naugatuck; grandchildren Matthew and Michael Walsh, Robert Donnelly and Joseph and Jessica Meagher; and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons John J. Walsh and William J. Walsh Jr., daughter Linda Donnelly, grandson John J. Walsh Jr. and great grandson Joseph Walsh. 


She will be missed by all her friends at the Robert Hutt Housing Complex . Evelyn's family would like to thank Complete Care at Glendale for the exceptional care she received while there.


ARRANGEMENTS- Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday  July 18th, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at St Pius X Church in Wolcott. Burial will follow in Old Calvary Cemetery.
