Faina Sergeyevna Tolstokoraya Obituary
Waterbury - Faina Sergeyevna Tolstokoraya (born Buryakova), age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 2, 2026 at St. Mary's Hospital VITAS Care Unit.
Faina was born in village Karandashka, Gorkiy region of Russia on January 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Sergey Ianovich Buryakov and Nadezhda Aleksandrovna (Demidova) Buryakova. She came to the United States with her family in 1998 and eventually settled in Waterbury, CT, in summer 1999. Faina enjoyed knitting, cooking, reading, tending to her flowers, and singing Russian folk songs.
She leaves her family to honor her memory, her son Valeriy Tolstokory and his wife Olga Tolstokoraya of Prospect, CT; her three grandchildren Maxim Tolstokory, George Vygoder, Yelizaveta Tolstokoraya and her spouse Amanda Liberman of Baltimore, MD; her great granddaughter Hanna Tolstokoraya Liberman; her son in law Alexander "Alex" Vygoder of Beacon Falls, CT and many other relatives and dear friends. Faina was predeceased by her loving daughter, Olga Vygoder, and siblings Zinaida Sergeyevna Buryakova, Kapitalina Sergeyevna Buryakova, Anna Sergeyevna Yankina, and Victor Sergeyvich Buryakov.
