Firmino Alves Teixeira Obituary
Naugatuck-It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Firmino Alves Teixeira, age 93, who left us peacefully on July 29, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Firmino was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering faith, deep love for family and his sincere desire to spread joy and kindness wherever he went.
Firmino was born in Portugal on March 31, 1932 to Jose Albertino Alves Teixeira and Miquelina da Costa Rego. He was predeceased by his siblings, Francisco Alves Teixeira, Antonio Alves Teixeira, Maria das Dores (Alves Teixeira) Vilarinho, Luis Alves Teixeira and Ir. Maria Albertina Alves Teixeira as well as his beloved daughter Lucia de Fatima and cherished granddaughter, Sophia Rose DaSilva.
Firmino was known for his passion of reading, singing, walking, taking care of his yard and playing cards with his family and friends. He enjoyed recounting memories from his past and cherished all the relationships he built over the years. He truly saw the good in people and always wished the best for others. Whether you were a close friend or a casual acquaintance, he made you feel valued and important.
A true social butterfly, he loved spending time with those he cared about, always putting others before himself. He will be remembered as a man of great love, integrity, and faith — someone who lived not only for himself but for the well-being and happiness of those around him.
Firmino was a man of great dedication and work ethic. He spent seven years working in Zurich, Switzerland providing for his family before settling in the United States in 1971, Naugatuck, CT. Firmino was employed by GTE Sylvania, where he worked until his retirement.
His devotion to his wife of 64 years, Maria Alcina Teixeira, was evident in every aspect of his life. Together, they raised a beautiful family, building a home filled with love, respect, and gratitude for one another. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on in the stories he told, the love he gave and the lessons he imparted.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Alcina Teixeira (Rego), and together they raised four devoted children: Jorge Teixeira, Jose Teixeira (Manju Shukla Teixeira), Cina Teixeira Santos and Miquelina DaSilva (Aires DaSilva). He was a proud grandfather to Michael Santos, Stephanie Dos Santos (Carlos Dos Santos), Narayan Teixeira and Amani Teixeira; and a cherished great-grandfather to Soul Santos. Firmino also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 4, 2025 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.
