Naugatuck-Floyd A. Traver, husband of Katherine “Kitty” Traver passed away Monday December 15, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital.  He was 89 years old.

 

Born in Waterbury, CT on November 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Wallace and Geraldine “Gerry” (Barkley) Traver.  He attended Murray State College in Tennessee and lived most of his life in Naugatuck and Beacon Falls.  Floyd retired from Uniroyal, Inc. and had most recently worked as head of maintenance at Salem School in Naugatuck.

 

He was well known for coaching Little Pal and Little league baseball, and refereeing football in Naugatuck.  He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing, the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Knicks and Giants, and all UCONN teams.

 

In addition to his wife Katherine, Floyd leaves his family, sons Kevin and Gregg Traver and his wife Ellen; his daughter Julie Lucia and her husband Jerry; his brother Claude Traver and his wife Linda; his five loving grandchildren, two are twins; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

 

A funeral service will be held on Monday December 22, 2025 at noon at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.  Family and friends may visit on Monday from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.  To send an online condolence or share a memory, please visit www.naugauckvalleymemorial.com
