Francisco dos Santos

NAUGATUCK- Francisco A. dos Santos, 94, of Naugatuck, beloved husband of Maria Jose (Tavares) dos Santos, died Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Francisco was born September 16th, 1929 in Murtosa, Portugal, son of the late Joao Carlos dos Santos and Carolina Nunes Azevedo. He came to the United States in 1973, with this month marking 50 years of his arrival. He worked many jobs, and finished at AMF in Waterbury  before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a huge fan of Benfica Soccer Club. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

In addition to his wife, Francisco leaves his son Francisco A. Santos and his girlfriend Cher of Naugatuck; daughters and sons in law Maria Morgado of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Lourdes and Joseph Sanches and Regina and Jose Sousa of Prospect, Mara and David Capuano of Cheshire and Maria and John Gevinski of New Milford; sister Maria de Lurdes Louvado of Portugal; grandsons Matthew Gevinski and Dax Sousa, granddaughters Vanessa Pepe, Melanie Scarfone,  Alexia Parekh, Carolyn Gevinski, Isabella Capuano and Ava Capuano, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Domingos Santos  and Armindo Santos, sisters Esmenia Santos and Maria Do Carmo Santos and his grandsons Michael and Brian Morgado.

ARRANGEMENTS- Funeral will leave Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck Monday October 16th , 2023 at 10:30 A.M. for Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury for Mass at 11:00.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home  Monday from  8:30 to 10:30  A.M.. Contributions: Our Lady of Fatima Church or Vitas Hospice Care.
